The Mystery Plant

Can someone please take a look at the photo below and identify the flower? We inherited this garden when we bought the house. For the first two years this shrub did not bloom. Now all of a sudden it's as if the plant is on steroids. But not being much of a gardener, I haven't a clue what it is. If you know, feel free to comment below.

    rhododendron, most likely (the other option is mountain laurel, but I don't think so)

    oh thank you, M! It's been driving us crazy. And indeed, you are right. I looked at pics online and it's the same plant. K is embarassed because they have these all over Ireland and he should have recognized it. Oh well.
